Post Michelin LTX A/T XCX/APT

Hi All
With winter comming soon here in New England I just took off my summer tires and rims, and put my goodyears back on. Man they SUCK now I remember why I took the off in the first place.
The Goodyears are 255/70-16 I looked at some Michelin 265/75-16 XCX/APT at NTW which are the same as the LTX A/T all terrain tires.
(1) do any of you have these and how do you like them?
(2)I know that the goodyears are 30.3 overall diamiter, and the Michelin's are 31.9 overall diamiter. I am not concerned about the spedometer, but how much will it hurt performance with a 4.6 with 355 gears.
(3)How are they in the rain and snow?

Thanks for any help, If I get them I will let you know how I like them.
Don

Don:

I had the XCX/APT on my '94 *gasp* 4Runner, and they were excellent riding, and great in the snow and rain. I can't answer the question about the gearing/speedo - but, they tires were awesome replacements for the GY's that were on the 'runner.

Good luck!

I have the LTX AT in 265/75/16. I replaced Goodyear 255/70/16. I have the 5.4L and the 3.55 LS. You will notice some performance loss, but I really didn't think it was all that great. I added a Gibson catback afterwards, and I think I regained the loss. The speed will be off some, but that can be fixed. I replaced my speedo gear with the one for the 4X4 model since the 17" 4X4 tires are .2% smaller than the 265/75/16 tires. My speedo is now off .2% which is probably no more than factory anyway. This was for a 98 w/ E40D tranny. I believe the 99 models have to be reprogrammed.

I can't say anything about the snow, but the difference is rain is huge!

Good Luck.

Thanks Guys
I went to a different tire dealer, these tires are hard to find with the problems Firestone is having. I ended up putting on a set fo LTX M/S 265/70-16 I do not have the exact specs on them, but if you stand them side by side with the goodyears, thwt look to be about a half inch wider and taller.
Man what a improvement over the Goodyears, the ride is a lot smoother, they handle better, and they look a little beefier. We will see how they work in the rain, they say we are getting rain tommorow, I'll give them a good test then.
Again thanks for the help
Don
