I have a 98 with a 3" body and 35x12.5R16.5 mounted on 16.5x9.75 with 4.75" of backspace. Tomorrow I will be trimmimg the front balance just a little because of some minor rubbing. So I would say that the wheel/tire combo you mentioned in your post will rub since most of the 16x10 wheels out there have less backspace than OEM wheels, forcing the combo out making it prone to rub.

Yes it will kill power in your 4.6. It did in my 5.4 and that's the reason I am working on an emergency budget out of nothing to get 4.56 gears in december. But this will be important only if you care about how the truck will accelerate. If not, you can save the money. I do care about the Z71's and light weight Tundras out there so I am doing the upgrade.

Good luck with your project.

Cool

Thanks JM truck my 16+10 american racing ATLAS rims come with the 4.75 oem backspacing and i am not worried about the rubbing on the valance i removed my lower front plastic valance it shows off my homemade skidplate and my bright red painted lower control arms better. what i was worried about was the lower rear front fender rubbing when turning? also i just installed a set of bushwacker extenda fender flares! do you have any pictures you can post? if not does your tires realy fill the wheel wells up? i am getting 4.10 later on i was told the 4.56 runs hotter at highway speeds dont want no melt downs? also you said you was doing a gear change to beat them chevys and tundra"s well you have all ready done that you are driving a FORD heres some pics of mine www.ftrucks.homestead.com THANKS for the reply

Well with that backspacing and the front valance gone maybe everything is going to be OK. But as you mentioned the lower rear part of the front fender may rub in some turns. My tires almost rub (but they do not) under normal driving but I can hit that part with a sharp and fast turn and bump at the same time.

I am taking some pictures tomorrow and I will try to post them ASAP. See you later.
