Post Know this wheel?

Does anyone know who makes (made) this wheel style (machined aluminum/magnesium)?

I know it used to be somewhat popular but I can't find it anywhere. I'd like to put a set on my SCrew, hopefully it is still available as 16X8 in my bolt pattern. By the way, I know Ford changed the pattern around 97(?) does anyone know what they changed it to?

Any help is appreciated.

Don't know anything about those wheels, but your lug pattern should be 5x135.
Good luck.

Thanks Woody,

That will help in my search for replacements.

If I may ramble for a moment.. seems to me that just about all aftermaket wheels look close to factory.. either bland or too gaudy. I guess I just favor styles of old, styles that set you apart from the OEM crowd somewhat. I hunt so my rig sees it's fair share of offroad and some styles don't look as though they could handle it (I know looks are deceiving, like the following style).

My first choice was the Eagle Alloy type 86 but they no longer make them and apparently never in that pattern. Still think they would look great on my black SCrew along with some BFG 33" equivalents!

Oh well, search continues..

I was going to buy a set of those for my 1987 Mitsubishi Pick up Trok. That was a long time ago and yes they are American Racing and I still like the style very much.

Oh crap.. You are right JMTruck, thanks.

I believe the wheel you're refering to is the chromed steel AR-781. Still a good looking wheel but I should have pointed out (as edited) that there used to be a machined version similar to the AR-23..

..only directional like the pic I posted, that's the one I'm looking for. Too much maintenance associated with steel

Before 97 the wheels were considered "lug centric". The wheel is centered by the wheel lug nuts. 97 and newer the wheels are what is called hub centric, this means the wheel is centered on and by the hub (portion that sticks through the wheel). I didn't know this type of wheel exsisted until I read about it someplace.

Thanks all, but since I posted I've found many Co's that produce the wheel in question (KMC, Ultra etc.) Unfortunately, none are in the 135mm bolt pattern (or 16x8) and frankly I don't understand why wheel manufacturers have not gotten with the program, so to speak. The 135mm Ford trucks have been out since '96 ('97 model) and make no mistake; there are millions out there. This is surely a sizable market for any manuf. willing to re-tool.

What I'd like to know is if having such a limited choice has equally frustrated others out there and whether or not it is just us 16 inchers.

What I plan to do (and I know this is slightly over-the-top) is to query each manufacturer I can and get a list of all wheels that meet my requirements so that I have a bank of choices from which to draw (and, of course, complain about )

I will post my findings when complete although most have been extremely slow in responding to my earlier requests (if at all) so it may take some time.

I have noticed the same thing,as long as your looking for 17x9.5 and above, you have all the selection in the world. But,the closer you go towards a stock size, the fewer selections you have:-(,,,,,98

Exclamation

OK... I've begun and the wheel folks have already started replying.

The list will be maintained on this thread:

That is, until it becomes to big. (yeah, like THAT will happen)

Thanks all!
