Post STOCK RIMS QUESTION

what's the deal with tire size and the stock rims? I think the tires look funny there's so small on my F150 4.2 XLT..
how big can I go without having to buy new rims? can I get it to look any thicker or beefed up?

thanks,
Pat

You Can Squeeze 285/75/16's on them. Even though the Manufacters recommend 16x8's they'll work.

Cool

I recommend the 285s...hey, if you can fit em...its worth it...they'll fit on the stocks fine too...the link below shows my truck with 285/75s on the stock rims...BEFORE i added lift, new tires/wheels. I really should get a new picture huh? O, and nope, she's not stuck! www.f150online.com/owners/owners303.html

Lightbulb

I hate to tell ya this, but if it doesn't like climbing hills now, it really won't when you put bigger tires on. Unless you mean off-roading in 4-Low.

I have 295/75/16 on mine. No lift. That was the biggest I could get without a lift. It looks great. Nothing had to be cut and no rubbing anywhere either.

Can anyone tell me what the front fender clearance would be like on an F250LD 2wheel-drive, with no lifting, with 265/75/16 and 285/75/16 tires on the stock rims. The *265 would be a 31.5" dia. tire and the *285 would be a 33" dia. tire. I can figure the gearing loss but I don't know what will fit -has anyone tried these on a 2wd?

Go back to Wheels and click on Show Topics From the past year. You will find a fortune of information from folks who have put on larger tires. Do the same thing for the Aftermarket wheels topic. This site is a goldmine of facts from people who have actually tried different things.

GREAT trucks!
