Post ProComp 33/12.50R17

I'm interested in some feedback on running the ProComp 33/12.50R17 on my stock ExtCab F150 4x4 before I buy them for myself...My f150 came with the ORP 17" rims & GoodYear 265/70R17, looking to get rid of them soon. I saw a post or two about some of you running the ProComps on your f150's & several of you folks planning on ordering them...Any updates on how the ProComp 17's are working out would be appreciated??

Ranstoy,

I'm in the market for the ProComp mud terrains. But having NO LUCK getting them up here to AK. The local ProComp distributor has no freakin clue about them. They keep telling me they don't make a 17" tire and we eventually got into an arguement about his IQ. Everyone (Summit, 4wheelparts.com, etc) will only ship 2nd day which runs $260+!! I've haven't heard any bad comments about the Procomps. Truck magazines are giving them highmarks as well. Procomp also just came out with some 35/12.5/17's too.
Also don't worry about no one replying to your post. There's very little replies/posts on the weekends. I notice most replies are during the week.

Jupiterak, good to know there is someone else out there. Those shipping prices sound real steep. As for the ProComps; I too saw them in a magizine & also on a post here in f150online. It seems that there is lots of good info here. How do you like your f250?

I just swapped my original rims and tires for some rims and Pro Comps. The original size was 265/70/17 and I installed a set of 305/70/16 wheels. There is some very minor rubbing but I'm not really concerned. As far as the performance goes, they seem to be great for a daily commuter and offer great snow and ice traction. No complaints, just love'em!

Raf,
Thanks for the info...Any reason you did not stay with the the ORP 17" rims??

By the way, did you adjust your torsion bars up? I've read that this helps cure some of the problem if one doesn't get to carried away cranking them up. I'm not sure what year you have so it may not be possible on your ride.

I was told that the Pro Comps are made by BFG. Not sure if that is true though. I have the 305/70/16s and they have been great!

I have the 33x12.5x17 ProComp All Terrains on my stock SuperCrew with stock 10 spoke aluminum 17" rims. Tires are great so far, quiet, and seem to offer good traction in all situations I have been in. I had them off-road briefly, flying down a sandy fire-road coming back from riding. No complaints so far, except that I didn't get the buy 3 and get one free deal :0(.
I did crank my torsion bars up a little because the truck looked like a stinkbug before. It still isn't completely even but much better. With bikes and gear in the back it sits about even.

Thumbs up

To all who replied; Thanks for your input.

Slowguy, I think it was your truck that I saw & got the idea from in the beginning. By the way could you tell me the width of your rims? Mine are 7.5" & also have you experianced much rubbing?? I like the ORP rims & would like to give the ProComps a try, & it sounds like the price is even better right now. Thanks again!

I have the stock 17" 10 Spoke Aluminum which I believe are also 7.5" wide. The ProComps aren't really 12.5 at the tread width so they don't stick way out over the rims like some tires do. The guy that did the install said the stock rims would be find on this tire, but that some tires the rims wouldn't be wide enough. Of course I wish they were 8" but I like them so much I wasn't going to get rid of the rims. They fit just fine. Very happy.
Like I said, I did crank up the torsion bars a little after I got the tires and have had no rubbing. I played around with the Torsion bars a little to get a balance between height and ride quality. The tires aren't really that much taller than the stock ones, a lot wider though. Just got an alignment and the toe-in was a little off, but not much, from the tires and torsion adjusment I assume. Everything else on the alingment was fine.
Good luck

RANSTOY i just got a e mail from 4 wheel parts wholesale and the PRO COMP tires are made by COOPER tire CO. the 3 get 1 free 50.000 mile warranty 305/70/16 PRO COMP A/T"s including shipping to my front door here in INDY $546.88 not bad! I put the body lift in this spring and i love it so far the ride stayed the same. the only thing different was due to the higher stance! when on the highway at higher speeds when passing a semi or in real windy situations! it will shake a little but not bad. maybe a rear anti sway bar may make it better in these situations? any ways i like it very well and i would recomend the performance accesories body lift as i am sure others here does to! it is a very good built complete kit with easy to follow instructions, it was not hard to put in to me, but it is time consuming do to the little things that have to be moved around and redrilling some new holes. here is the specs on the PRO COMP TIRES

305/70/16 = 32.6 inches tall/ 12.6 inches overall width/ tread width 10.1 inches/ rim size 8 to 10 inch.

315/75/16= 34.7 inches tall/ 13.2 inches overall width/ 10.1 inches tread width/ rim size 8 to 10 inch

Hey TexasAg and anybody else that cares......

Just wanted to clarify....BFG does NOT make tires anymore. They haven't been in the tire business for over 10 years. They sold the name to Michelin. FYI.......
