Question Will these fit my Screw? HELP!!!

Will this combo fit my Screw? I'm about to pull the trigger on this, want to make sure they will fit without lifting truck and/or cutting the bumper/wheel well....

American Racing Baja wheel: 16.5" X 9.75"

Procomp All Terrain Radial: 33"/12.5/16.5 (tire #16533)

Thanks in advance!!

Never heard of a 16.5" wheel on a SuperCrew.

Don;t get 16.5 inch wheels or any kind. I have read they do not "hold" the tire as well and people who air down their tires for off roading often "derail" th bead of the tire off the rim. Also fewer and fewer tire companies are offering tires for 16.5 inch rims. Get 16 or 17 inch rims.

I probably wasn't very clear. I don't think you will find a 16.5" will that will fit your lug pattern (SuperCrew) unless it is custom made.

The Baja 16.5X 9.75 comes in a 5X135 bolt pattern.

I fought the same temptation several months ago. Don't buy the 16.5" set cause they're cheap - they're going out and soon you won't be able to buy 16.5" tires! Take the advice stated above and buy a 16 or 17" set. Both should be around for awhile and I think 17" tire size selection should increase greatly over the next year.

BTW, I don't think that combo will fit without doing a little trimwork to the bumper.

Good luck -

Mike

Yes, they will fit. Eagle Alloys also make a couple of 16.5x9.75 wheels in the 5x135mm bolt pattern. I agree with the others in there opinions of the 16.5 inch rims. They have a poor bead design. This is only a problem if you air down while off roading. It will be very easy to pop a bead if you do this. You would be better off going with a 16x10 inch wheel and a 305/70-16 (33x12.50). To fit these you will have to crank up your torsion bars and/or trimm a little plastic off your front bumper's plastic valance.

I agrre with the 16" or 17" rim but as for the width if you air down your tires for offroading I would say stick with a 8" wide tire. I have an 8" wide tire and have not aired them down for offroading yet but when I was getting them from a buddy who worked at an offroad fabrication shop he said stick with the narrower rim and with the wider tire you get a little buldge in the sidewall and that also helps protect your rim. I think that with the tire size you are talking about that you would have to do some lifting or trimming.

Thanks for the replies/help. Sounds like I have two problems, cut/trim bumber and problem with airing down tires to go to beach. Just out of curiosity, why would they make the "bead" different on a 16.5" rim than any other rims? OR, are you saying this "bead" thing is a problem because most people put the wrong tire (non 16.5") on a 16.5" rim??

Man, why is it SO DIFFICULT to find a simple rim and tire for this truck??? NOBODY makes a 17" simple rim for this truck. By simple, I mean the flat deep dish look (like the Baja or an Outlaw...). Doesn't seem to make sense to go to a smaller rim (16") when my stock rims are 17".

All I want to do is get a wider tire!!! Now what? Any other ideas?

Here's my Screw at stock ride height and 285/75-16 (33x11.50-16) BFG AT KO's on 16x10 Eagle Alloy 058's. All I did was trim about 1/2 inch of plastic off the front bumper's lower plastic valance.

Wandell,
Those look bigger than that, you sure?

What would be the widest tire I could install on my stock wheel (17" with 265/70/17 tire)?

I just can't figure out what to do. Every time I think I have it figured out with a good plan, BAM!!! Back to nothing.
