Post looking for some feedback

just want to start off by thanking anyone who takes time out to respond to this.

i have a 99 x-cab 4x4 xlt which came stock with 235/70/16 inch tires. thats right, 235.
i have them worn enough where i can now justify buying new tires. to be honest i have sort of grown used to seeing the truck with these tires, but i will be getting something a little bigger to balance out the look of the truck. i am pretty sure i will be buying new rims as well. here now the question.

the diameter of my tires is currently 29 inches. 265/70/16's would be 30.6, 265/75/16's would be 31.6.

i am very happy with the trucks performance with the few upgrades i have done (exhaust & fipk) and really dont want to give up any performance i have gained by running bigger tires than i need. i fear that i would really feel the loss if i jumped up over 2.5 inches to the 265/75/16. gas mileage is also something i do not want to jeopardize.

asthetically i think i would be happy with the 265/70/16 (extra 1.6 inches), but i was curious to see if anyone else has gone to this size tire and if they were happy with the choice.

i would also be curious to know anyone's opinion that went to 265/75/16's (as far as performance loss, both mileage & quickness)

i know i will be getting michilin ltx's, and 16 x 8 inch rims. i have already called 2 ford dealers, both of which werent sure they could recalibrate my speedomoter with the bigger wheels but i can deal with that if i have to.

i would really like to here from some folks who made a similiar choice, and if they were happy with the results.

thanks again.

i went from the stock 255/70's to a 265/75..looks much better and feels like no noticeable power loss...the extra height of the 265's fills in the fenderwells better to me...good luck, Rich.
