Talking Over inflation problems

Why does every shop or maintenance garage,etc...... overinflate my tires? First it was Wal-mart,they put 50 in during an oil change. And now my dealer, the other day put 55!! These tires are marked 44max psi on the sidewall in 1/4" letters.
The only way I found out this time was the oil change place I took it to checked the pressure while I was standing there.
I took it to the dealer last week for a pinion seal replacement,so they are the only ones who could've done it. Before that I checked and filled them a week before(digital gauge)... I'm just trying to understand why......98

My dealer did the same thing on both of my trucks, and my Explorer! Morons working on it is all I can figure... I felt like I was driving a tank all three times, only to find 45 PSI in all three cases! Morons! It's amazing the difference in ride quality when you use the CORRECT pressures! I actually run my rears a little bit under the recommended pressure to help the ride. I pump them up full (To the recommended pressure at least) when hauling the boat or a load in the bed.

Well, some high perfomance tires require that kind of pressure, but mine are clearly marked on the sidewall. I guess I'll have to make some little magnet signs to go on the fender, and stick them on before I get it serviced,LOL. I remember one time
when I used to work at this one place. (crop dusting,of all things) Anyway the big boss would use the extra hangar space to store his cars. Well one day his black Jensen was flat on the right rear,I filled it up but it had a slow leak around the rim.
My boss(who I guess was not too bright, lol) told me to put 100!! pounds of air in it,lol. That would swell the tire enough to stop it from leaking he said....
Well I winced, and had my back against the fender so as to avoid the impending explosion. Nothing happened! Well, everyone went to lunch and when we came back, the tire had split from rim to rim, almost like someone had cut it with a recip. saw. My bosses wife, the secretary ,was the only one there when it blew. I'm sure she almost went in her jeans,LOL.
(it was in a 20,000 sq. foot hangar) I can
imagine the sound it must've made,,,,,98

(A Jensen is a british car that looks like an old BMW in the front, and a Porsche 928 in the rear. It's powered by a Dodge 440 Magnum. Quite a fast car......)

Wink

If you get an overinflated tire from a "pro shop" it is simply because that over inflation is directly proportional to the over inflation in their brains thus affecting their proper functioning, mentally and physically.
