Question Mileage on goodyear mt/R???

Hey guys. I'm new in here. I was surfing the net looking for mileage reviews on the new mt/r's and i surfed on in here. I like this website for Fords. I drive another brand that will remain unmentioned, but I wanted to ask you guys if you know about the tire's mileage on highway. Just curious. I drive a fullsize. Don't hate me for being a chevy driver. We all love trucks in here!!!

Welcome, MSman.

My milage suffered some when I mounted the MT/R's. Of course, I went from 265/70R17 RT/S's on stock alloy wheels to 285/75R16 MT/R's on aftermarket alloys. They are 1.5" taller, much more aggressive tread pattern, and heavier. Plus, I did the swap this winter. And my gas milage tends to decrease during winter months. I think that is due to the oxygenated fuel. Any or all of which possibly contributed to the loss. I'm averaging about 2 mpg less now than before.

Cool

I would agree, my tires are basically the same as 98fword's only I went a little wider at 305/70R/16s with the RCD 5" lift (an interesting sidenote: the Border Patrol has a whole fleet of Screws with the same lift and tire on it...)

I put mine on 16X8 Ultra Type 50 Polished Rims and would say I lost about 2mpg.

A couple of notes:
1. The road noise is totally bearable, the sidewalls are so stiff on those tires you can run at a little lower air pressure and you get a real nice ride out of them. I expected them to be a lot louder than they are.

2. I picked my 2mpg back up when I got my Fiberglass Tonneau cover on.

3. The Combination of the larger tire and 5" lift is wicked, you should see the other effie owners staring as I go by...

4. I had my tires siped and the snow traction was great, I even got the chance to pull a State Trooper out of the ditch in his Crown Vic.

5. I have a Lariat which came stock with 265/70R/16s on them and the difference in size was so little that the gearing effect is very manageable (although the transmission does hunt a little more and down shift a little sooner.)

Love the combo, it turned out great. Now I can't wait for my Superchip, new gears and FIPK...

(I am not an addict, I am not an addict, I am not an addict...)

mississippi man,
i'm a little foggy on your question here..are you wanting gas mileage? or how many miles we're getting out of these tires? i think your question is the latter...i doubt anyone has enough miles on these mt/r's to tell...i only have around 1,000 miles on mine, but, they still look new...LOL..Rich.

hey guys...sorry about the confusion. yeah, i was wanting to know if anyone knew how many miles a set was good for. I'm looking at suspension lifts right now for my truck. I'm taking my body and torsion bar lifts off and putting on a 6-incher. i'm wanting 35X12.50X15's but i'm stuck between the goodyear mt/r, the swamper ssr, the baja claw, or just whatever else hits me. (i change my mind daily) thanks guys!
