snow tires

Howdy,
I second that post!
I was just about to post the same thing. After trying to cope with a nasty snowfall on country roads this weekend (I moved), I am an inch away from putting a set of BFG ATs on my truck. I have a set of four on hold at a tire shop down the road.
I've heard so many good things around here in the past. The reviews at Tirerack are very good.
So, I believe they will get me through all but the worst snow and dirt. But I'm concerned about the ride and the highway performance. One guy told me since they are six-ply LTs, the ride will be terrible compared with an all-season.
I'm spoiled by the Long Trails; they ride really smooth and do great in rain.
But if we had to get out the other night, in an emergency, we would have been in trouble. My 4x2 needs all the traction it can muster. So I'm gonna switch to some AT or something.
Thanks!

Got the AT KOs.
The ride is fine. It's firm but not harsh at all IMHO. They handle great.
And even though rain performance was where many reviews ranked the KOs a little lower, I drove in heavy rain all day with no problems (I don't go 70 through standing water).
I'm amazed. While I found the Long Trails to be great tires, these just stick- to everything.
I have barely spun a tire since driving out of the tire shop- on paved snow, wet dirt and roads. Even from a dead stop, in some places where I would spin a tire before, like on grades, they didn't spin today.
Amazing.
Looking forward to testing them out in other conditions.
