Question Gas mileage with bigger tires

For those who have "upgraded" their tires, what has been the effect on gas mileage?

For example, LT285/75R16 or LT305/70R16...was there a noticeable decrease in fuel economy, horsepower, or torque compared with stock tires?

No. No. Yes.

The added weight of the tires is offset by the "increased" axle ratio. MPG is a push.

By the time HP becomes important, you're already rolling, so HP is a push.

"Torque" is reduced because of the higher effective gear ratio and added tire weight.

Also, if you didn't correct the speedo gear for the tire change, the vehicle will no longer accurately track mileage or speed, causing your fuel mileage to be off as well.
