Cooper Discoverer Sport HP
Has anyone tried these?
Will need new tires soon. I like the 265/60/17 Kumhos, but want to try a 275/55/17 and I want a stiffer sidewall (but I am limited by a 17x7.5 rim). The Cooper Discoverer Sport HP is classified as a 4x4 SUV/light duty truck tire. It has an aggressive directional tread, can choose either H or V speed ratings, has a load rating of 109, and comes with a sidewall stiffener to reduce the "wallowing feeling". Its Uniform Tire Quality Grading (UTQG) is a 260 AA. Therefore, I hope it has a sticky tread that is very steering sensitive and a sidewall that does not flex as much as other tires. I guess I am looking for a "sport truck LT type tire".

I just bought some Mastercraft Courser radial A/T's. They are made by Cooper. They have a 4-ply sidewall and don't seem to feel too "wallowing" around corners. They have great snow, ice, mud, and wet traction. The only beef I have with them are that they are a little noisier than the Generals I had on my truck. But not "really noisy." And they look awesome with the raised white outlined letters. They were $416 mounted and balanced. There's an idea for you if your interested in a new set of tires.

Peacemaker,
Thanks for the comments. I was just looking at the MasterCraft website and even called the only distributor of MasterCraft in my state. The Courser are good tires. I also saw a MasterCraft called an "Avenger 4x4" It is similar to the Cooper Discoverer Sport. However, I just found out that, the Discoverer Sport and the Avenger 4x4 is not due for release for several months......yet www.tiresavings.com is already selling the Cooper Discoverer Sport in 275/55/17
........yeah, I think more plys, the better.
