Wink 275/60's how wide are they?

Well it seems that the only size I can get close to my stock tire height in the brand I was looking at is the 275/60/16. Now I am thinking they will be too wide.
All the tire calulators I can find tell me the height only.

btw, the rim is a 16/8

Forgot, the web site for the tire/gear calculator is 4LO.com
Look at the left of the screen near the top for the different calculators.

ATST, they put 275/60R17's on the sport package, and those don't come anywhere near rubbing, so I think that you will be okay with them, even on the wider rims they should be fine.

Go back to 4LO.com and use the Metric Tire calculator. It will give you width.

AndThensometoo
I just put on 275/60Hr-17 on mine, I had the 255/70-16 from the factory.
The new tires fit perfect, it handles much better, is smoother, and doesn't spin in light rain. I love em, you may want to concider this size.
Plus they are the same Overal Diamiter as the stock tires, but a 3 inches wider.

Tire widths will vary depending on who makes the tire. Go to the tire manufacturers site and look up the tire you're considering and get the technical specifications which should include overall width as well as contact width. You'll also discover that other measurements will vary slightly between manufacturers.

I've been there, but there wasn't a thing for tire width.
The stock ones are 255/70/16's. I know they are 30 tall, but I don't know how wide.

Ooops! you're right!
I just rechecked http://4lo.com/ and the figures I have are:
255/70/16 are 10" wide, 7" tall, 30" Dia
275/60/16 are 10.8" wide, 6.5" tall, 29" Dia.
Good thing I got the 16x8 rims. Now I just hope they don't rub!

I'm with Dirt Bike Dave on this one. The tires would be 275mm (10.83 in)

Yes, they should measure 275mm. However, the reality is they vary (tolerances). Michelin Pilot LTX for example in a 285 size is actually wider whan 285mm. The Pilots are a wider designed tire - more than 285 but smaller than 295 or 305. The same holds true for diameters. 275/60/17 tires will vary from 29.8" to 30.4" depending on the tire brand. Pirelli P Zeros generally are on the smaller diameter scale. I believe Bridgestone's are generally on the upper end. Again, if you wand exact size information, check the specific tire's specifications provided by the manufacturer.

They SHOULD be 275 wide, but tires of a given nominal size may vary by 1/2" or more in width from manufacturer. Diameters are pretty constant though: for example 275/60-17s run between 692 and 698 revs per mile or a vaviance of just under 3/4%.

Nominal sizes are just that, nominal. To get exact numbers you have to get data sheets from the manufacturers, usually available on their web sites.

Just wanted to let everyone know what the tire numbers stand for.

Using Andi's "size", 275 is the overall width in millimeters,

The /70 stands for sidewall ratio, in this case the side wall would be 70% of 275mm.

The r stands for radial cord design.

The 16 is for the wheel diameter in inches.

Also a word of warning, from brand to brand you will find a diference in actual size. The same set of numbers in different brands doesn't tell the true story. My truck came stock with Goodyear 265/70r/17's ,I traded them in on a set of BF Goodrich 265/70r/17's
sounds the same on paper. But my tread measurements show the Goodyear with 8" of tread on the street,While the BFG has 9" of tread on the street.
So when choosing larger sizes than stock, use the show me method.

Take care,
Redwing

Thanks for all your replys!
I measured the tires (old and new) as they were putting the new ones on today.
They were a custom order so I would've been screwed if they didn't fit. Nothing like thinking ahead.
For the record even though the Snow tires (255/70/16) on it are suposed to be 10" wide, they turned out to be 9" (maybe measured and then exagerated by a man) The Pirelli's were a perect fit and exactly the size those figures (275/60/16) would indicate.
~Now for the good part. As soon as the snows were placed in the bed, I was smiling as I peeled out of the lot thinking about where to go first, only to see it begin to SNOW! That's right, two inches so far!! Well my snow tires will still be of some benefit after all... they are still in the bed and will now be used for weight.
