Post speedo gear

I looked through the posts and im still confused. I have a 2wd V6 that originally had 235/70/16(28.95" i think) and now have 265/75/16(31.8?) and i have the 3.55 NON limited slip rear end. Which speedo gear do i need to correct the speedo.

brew,

The gear calculator I've been using www.4lo.com says your 235's were 29" and your 265's are 31.6. Which translates to an 8.3% change. That's still pretty close to your figures which would make it about 9%. There is no way to tell which drive gear you have without pulling it out. Take it out and count the number of teeth. You will need as close to 8 or 9% fewer teeth as you can get. Which, in reality, will probably be two teeth less. Bring it with you to the dealer so they can match it up.

Ok so im in Pensacola, FL and my repair manual is in Tallahassee, FL so could anyone volunteer to walk me through the process of changing the speedo gear. I would really apprecieate the help because it is a lot easier to work on my truck at a house with garage rather than an apartment parking lot. Thanks!!!!!
