Post 16x8 vs. 16x10

I just bought some procomp Muds (305/70R16) and was planning on mounting them on Eagle 589's. I was wondering what is the best width wheel to get. I planned on 16x10 figuring it would be better than the 16x8 if I wanted to get bigger tires later. Would that look wierd or mexican low-riderish? Does anyone have pics of an f150 with 33's on 16x10's? Will this cause it to rub alot or cause any other problems??

Cool

I've been in your shoes before. I'd say if you are sure about the 16" rim, go 16x10, especially if you want to go bigger later. 315/75R16's on 16x8 are good looking, but the 16x10s really set them off. I just got my 315/75R16 Geolander MT's on my Atlas 16x10 wheels and they look awesome! 305/75R16's will look awesome on those 16x10s too, cause it'll make them look wider. Its up to you but i'd go with the 16x10 although you can't go wrong either way. I'll post pics of my setup soon as i get the pics back from the Walgreens.

I have the 16x8 wheels for my 305s but I think the 16x10 rims would look great, especially on some 315s.

I know you have a different setup then I but you would need to consider clearance in your decision. The 305's I have are running on 16x8's. If they were wrapped around 16x10's it appears that they would rub on the bumper surround. On 16x8'sthey do not rub at all!

Good luck!

I have 4 275x60x17's mounted on Prime 17x8 Phantoms. I just bought two Prime 17x10 Phantoms and I am mounting two 345x55x17's on them to run on the rear for the 1/8 and 1/4 mile. The diameter is a little larger and according to my calculator, knocks my gear ratio down from 4:10 to 3:90. Anyway they are being mailed to my house and I will post the pictures of the tires side by side and on the truck. It will be interesting to see how much clearance I have!

Thanx for the help guys. I ended up getting the 16x10 Eagle 589's. It looks damn sweet. I'm glad I went with the wider rim. It makes the tires stick out just enough to look good. I'll post pictures once I re-download another upload program.

Thanks to Sixpipes, I have a picture of my 345x55x17 shown beside his 20's. I hope these things stuff in the rear wheel well. They should arrive next week and I will get some pictures on my truck!

Well, here are the 345x55x17's on my truck! In that the truck is lowered 4 inches, there was not enough suspension travel to keep them in the wheel well when I bottomed out. I have exchanged these tires for two 275x60x17's which should work better.

Thought I would throw this other Picture up to show how wide this tire is. Notice how small the Mud flap is in comparison.
