Question 16" or 17"

Ok, I'm still trying to figure out a tire selection and come up with another scenerio. Can someone help?

I've currently got stock 17" wheels. Is it possible to switch to a 16x10 wheel and not have any problems? I was told by my dealer, that the rotors/calipers wouldn't fit with the 16" wheel. Is this true?

If this is possible, what's the biggest AT tire I can run without having the lift the truck right now. I want to later, but want to get a tire that will look good now and when I lift it.

Please help.

I think the dealer is full of it, but you may want to also post the question in the brakes section and see if you get any replies.

What kind of truck do you have? 16's will fit on a 97-03 F-150 without any problem. It's 15's that won't fit because of the size of the brakes.
If you have a new 04 F-150, 17's are the smallest size rim that will fit. This is also because of the size of the brakes.

Your dealer is full of it. I just lifted a 2001 with stock 17's and put 16x10's on it. no problems with the fitment.
