Hello KingRanch,
Please let me know how the brakes turn out. I need new rotors and am holding out until i know for sure what direction to go.
GearHead,
Just curious, how do you like the new BFG 285/70/17's. I have a set on order but am wondering how much performance lost I will see on the road. Hopefully, off road they should be better. Currently I have Cooper LT265/70/17's.
Thanks for your help!

I noticed no real down side to the 285's except for a firmer ride which I actually prefer. I've got a few mods on the truck and the horse power wasn't an issue. Mine has always had very respectible mileage. I've liked BFG's for years, I would put them on most any truck.

Most of the usual bolt ons. Chipped (SuperChip), electric fans (Durale), underdrive pullies, FIPK (AirForce 1), larger injectors (24# Ford), 90mm MAF (Ford), larger capacity fuel pump (255 lph), headers (JBA), high flow cats, cat back system (JBA/K&N)), shift kit (Transgo) and a few other little tweaks. I added a rear sway bar and a set of RSX Ranchos also. I would highly recommend the sway bar.

Just to muddy the waters a little bit..... Today I bought EBC Slotted/Dimpled rotors and EBC 6000 brake pads. They were $186 for the rotors and $59 for the pads. I ran EBC on my motorcycle and loved them, so I hope that they will be just as good on the truck. I should have them mounted by the weekend (unless the Brown truck gets lost) and I can give a report afterwards.

power stops
I purchased a set of poer stop rotors with vgx pads for the front of my 99 regular cab 4x4 5.4 about 3 months ago. Seem to be wearing fine and better peddle response for sure over the stock i purchased them at summit racing for 125.00 a rotor and the pads i think were 50.00 only complaint is the clip for the vgx is to big and takes a little fabricating or else it rubs good luck hope this helps
