Rear shoes

Hi I have a 98 F150SC. Its time for rear brakes, Which brands are the best for the money? I would rather spend a little more and not have to do them for a while Thqanks Bob

C'mon somebody must have thought - Everybody loves to talk about about disk brakes (cause they cause so much grief) but drums get the cold shoulder. Who make good shoes? I have 198k on the OEM rears and they're starting to squeel. Time for R&R.

Almost 200 k on stock material.... Sounds like it worked pretty good. Might consider sticking with what works.

I understand that what was OEM in '97 may not be what they sell today. It appears the there are very few issues with the rear drums considering limited discussion here (yes the later models went to 4 discs so that factors in too). The lack of complaints suggest the stock components worked fairly well. Guess I'm headed back to the well.

well seeing as i havent had to replace my rear shoes yet at 118k i can tell you i would either get ford oem or motorcraft replacements just because of how long they lasted the first time around. other things to think about would be getting a hardware kit to replace all the springs in there.

the only rear brake work ive done on mine has been a clean and adjust every 20k or so and i turned the drums once that made a big difference with the first cold damp stop were they liked to grab alot.

I pulled the drums and the shoes are fine the right drum was a little out of round. We turned them both. Stops good. I had a sqeak from the rears when I put on the brakes. It also went away. Thanks for the help Bob
