2002 rotors

Are the front rotors held on by just the caliper assembly or are they also pressed on the hub?

I see alot of people with issues with thread lock on the bolts but dont know if once removed if htere is anything else hold the rotor on.

Are you asking about 2wd or 4x4? The rotors are different - I think everyone that has trouble has a 4x4.

Just changed the rotors on my 2wd after 5 years and 85,000 miles. They popped right off after pulling the caliper out of the way and removing the wheel bearing.

I've got mine up on stands right now. Went to put front pads and rotors on and the old rotors wouldnt budge. I've spent all day with a can of wd-40, the torch and some BFH's and even took the axle nut off, but i'm still at square 1. I guess I'll call my buddy at the local Ford dealer on Monday and see if he's got any idea's .

pathflounder - if you do a search in this forum, you will find a few solutions. The preferred method seems to be putting a metal cutting blade into a circular saw or a sawzall, and making a few cuts in deep toward the center.

UPDATE

Got the circular saw out....

threw in a cutter wheel....

and it sliced the rotors like hot butter.

A few hits and they were off!

Mission accomplished!

Did another search and got all the torque specs I needed.

Thanks everyone for your help. This is a great site. Actually, its more like a support group.
