'04 fx4 18" mach cast wheels with wimpy tires

Just got my '04 fx4 flareside. As an option it came with the 18" machine cast aluminum wheels. The tires are the P275/65R18 OWL All-Terrain Tires. They look tiny on the truck! Not being a knowledgable tire and wheel dude what are my options for what I've got on this truck? It's beautiful beside the whimpy tires... I measured the diameter of the P275/65R18 OWL All-Terrain Tires at 31"... The large wheel well looks like it deserves something much bigger. What's the difference between the P275/65R18 OWL All-Terrain Tires and the LT245/65R18 OWL All-Terrain Tires?

Can I just buy bigger tires for these rims or do I have to list the whole damn wheel and tire package on ebay and buy new rims and tires?

Any suggestions? What's the largest tires I can buy for these factory "upgraded" 18" wheels that I paid $300 to upgrade to?

It's a FX4 for christ sakes! Why do my tires look like they were pulled off a honda?

Any advice is appreciated!

- Mark

There are not too many options for you on the stock 18" wheels. BFG has a 285/65R18 AT that many like, but I hear it is on national backorder. You may be abl to find some Goodyear ATS in the same 275/65R18 which is a little more agressive looking. There is more selection for 17" rims as 18" rims are fairly new for off road capable vehicles.

Its a shame that these tires are not available in 18" yet, but when they do these are the tires to get. Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo Tires. I had them on my 2001 f150 lariat and holy crap what an awesome tire. Not a complaint. Since buying a 2004 f150 supercrew fx4 4x4 i haven't decided yet on wheels and tires either.
