285 or 315

i recently found someone that would install a 3 inch body lift for a whole lot cheaper than most other places and would like to go ahead and slap it on. the only thing stopping me is my tires. 3 months ago i got new 285 70 17 bgf at's on my 99 f150 4x4. i love these tires but would they look stupid with a 3" lift??
oh and these tires only have 2k 2.5k tops

if these tires would not work id have to find a place that would trade tires and have me pay the difference because i really cant afford another $800-$1000 on tires. any suggestions appreciated.

Here is roughly what it will look like. Mine has 285s with 16x8 wheels, so it will look similar to what yours will look like. Don't mind the trailer or the bird crap on the side of the truck. The back end is sagged down from the extra weight of the trailer on it so normally it sits pretty level.

Edit: Yet again F150online amazes me with how long they can carry a grudge against other websites

Anyways if you want to see what it looks like go to www.fordtruckworld.com and search for gallery powerstroke73 and look in the trailer folder. I tried to post links to it, but Steve has the filters turned on here so nothing from there can be viewed. Unbelieveable.

i really dont think it looks that bad at all...i guess eventually id like to put on 35's, but i dont know how to go about doing that without spending alot of money since i just bought tires a little while ago. if i tried to sell them, how much do you think i could get for a set of 285/70R17 bfg all terrains with say 2500 miles on em??

that looks very nice wandell.
i see you have a 10" wide rim and ive got a 9" wide i dont know how much difference that would make probly not much.

but if i were to get rid of my tires how much do you think i could get for them. i dont know of any offroad shops that would give store credit for slightly used tires but i may call up and ask

Wandell,

I've been shopping for a 3" body lift for my 2wd. Would it sit at the same height as yours? Or would it be different due to the 2wd and 4wd sitting at different stock heights?

No, it won't sit at the same height as mine. Stock vs stock, a 4x4 is approximately 3 inches taller than a 4x2. A body lift would put you at about the same height as a stock 4x4. If you want to get an idea of what it would look like, do a search for my gallary. I have some pics of my 4x4 Screw at stock height with 16x10's and 285's.
