Passenger or LT tires

Need new tires for a 2001 4.6l 4x4 SuperCrew, and I'm looking at Michelin LTX M/S and Toyo Open Country AT's. The current tires are D rated Wranglers. They are worn out and need replacing.

For both, it seems you can either get P-metric tyres, with a load index of 109s, or LT tires in 6 or 10 ply (C and E load ratings)

Which are the ones to get - P-metric or LT? Will a P-metric tyre be up to the job?

About 4 times a year I tow a 4000 boat 800 miles if that is significant, other than that the truck is lightly used.

The really strange thing is that for the Toyo's the P-metric tire (109s) actually has a higher load rating in Lb's than the 6 ply LT. Is the 109s equivalent to a D rated LT?

Thanks for the help

For the P tires you may want to look for a disclaimer. I know at BFG when the show the P tires for a truck, they state that it will have a reduced load rating.
I personnally will only use the load range C or D for my pickups. My choice.

Go with an LT rated tire.

Since you tow a boat, I'd get the LT's.
