Wheel size won't affect your speedo, tire height does. For instance if the OEM tires are 32 inches tall, it doesn't matter if you go to a 20 or 24 inch wheel, as long as your new tires are 32 inches tall, your speedo will still be correct.
Also, when you go to a large wheel, they are usually heavier, which will increase your braking distance.

What I don't want to do is go w/ such low profile tires that they pop the 1st time I go over a railroad track.. I still want the versatility of a truck .. ie, don't want to customize to the point of not utility..
Thoughts?

If I recollect correctly, 235/70/16 would be 70% of 235mm converted to inches * 2 (top and bottom) + 16" (rim) or
(9.25*.7)*2 + 16
6.475*2 + 16 = 28.95
so.. my tire height is only 29"... this is the reason the tires look dwarfed on this truck...
Given this.. what do you suggest to make the tires look like they 'fit' for this truck?
Thanks!!

No lift = up to 29 in. tall (265-65-16)
3.5 in. lift = up to 33 in. tall (285-75-16)
4-5 in. lift = up to 33.5 in tall (295-75-16)
6 in. lift = up to 34 in. tall (305-75-16)
7 in lift = up to 35 in. tall (315-75-16)
I was hoping to go to 31" w/o a lift kit.. but this info would indicate that I would not be able to do so.. What is your take on this?
Thanks for your input..

I have now decided to stay with factory wheels on my F150..
You have mentioned (above) that you have seen:
- 285/75-16 (tight fit)
- 265/75-16 (many have this)
So.. which would you suggest? I don't do any offroading.
As a note, the 285/50-20 sounded tempting, but the more I thought about spending 2K - 2.5K, the more I realized I could do w/o 20" rims.. also, kind of like the look of a larger tire on 16" rims rather than the low profile look.. (just an opinion of course)...
Thx sir..
