abs unit making loud noise
the abs unit on my truck is makin a very loud noise.it sounds like a really loud fuel pump that's about to explode.it keeps running after i turn the ignition off too.i have no idea what's goin on with it cause i haven't found an abs scanner yet.any ideas would help.they way it keeps running after i cut the key off is what's got me and the fact that's its louder than the exhaust at idle and i have straight pipes.i just unplugged it for now and it works fine.

Hi,
I had the same problem about a couple of months ago. It turned out to be the module on top of the ABS unit was bad. The ford house wanted around 750 to replace the module and pump and also around 250 in labor. They said that it was all one peice. I didnt have 750 so I went to a salvage yard and got a used one for around 100. I had them install it because it is hard as hell to get all the air out of the new abs unit when you are bleeding the brakes.
If you decide to go with a used unit, try and get one that has come off a truck pretty recently. When they sit on the shelf for a while the valves inside the pump tend to get stuck and you abs still wont work.
I hope some of this helps.
