Break seems stuck
It's happened twice now. It seems like my driver side rear break is sticking. I haven't done any changes recently but twice in the past 30 days this has happened. It did go away for a while but now it is back. It feels like my parking break is on but it is not. I pull the lever, hear it disengage, but I still feel a pull. It feels like it is just the driver side rear tire. At lunch, I noticed steam from that assembly and not the other due to the snow. Another funny thing is that this problem doesn't effect reverse, but only forward. Comments? Thanks!!

Emergency Brake Hung up
I just went though the same problem, I thought the rear rotors were warped, so I planned on getting them cut or just replacing them. After having a hard time removing the rotors, I found that the emergency brake shoes were practically rusted to the inside of the rotors and were hanging up when I was trying to remove the rotors. After heating, scraping, beating on them, they finally came off, and I decided that it was best to replace the emergency brake shoes, hardware and install new rotors. Put everything back together and took it out for a test drive and the passenger rear side was extremely hot, so I pulled everything off again and thought the cables needed some lube, but the problem was that the lever that attaches to the cable and shoes was also rusted and not moving properly. The one on my truck is connected by a dowel pin, and is two parts that should move freely, in a pivoting action. I removed these, and scraped them, wire brushed them and then I used some graphite lube on the pivot points, and that solved the problem.
The rust had actually built up on the outside of the emergency brake pads and prevented the rotors from coming off.
The emergency brake felt fine before I did this also, I never really used it, but I guess it's a good idea to use it occasionally to prevent this from happening again.
I hope this helps. 2001 F150 Supercrew

When Mine did this a month ago, I could wiggle the E-brake cable (the passenger side was my sticky problem) and it would release the e-brake so I could drive. Then, after a few days, when I had the time, took the wheel and rotor off, cleaned off all moving brake shoe parts, lubed, the springs and sliding parts, and voila, been working nicely since then.
I hardly ever use the E-Brake this time of year (I do in the summer when hitching to my Travel Trailer). The Hardly ever using it I think is the biggest part of the problem.
