ABS sensor vs ABS module

What is the difference between the two?

Can I assume the module collects the data from all the sensors and relays that back to the computer?

Got a 2002 F150 SuperCrew where the ABS light came on and they(the Ford dealership I took it too) said it was a bad ABS module. My computer was communicating to everything else except that ABS module.

Thanks.

The ABS module is a little computer hidden behind the dash. The ABS sensor could be a wheel speed sensor (if you have 4-wheel ABS) or the speed sensor tapped into the top of the rear differential (for those with rear ABS).

NO! The abs module is not behind the dash....It is piggy backed to the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit. The module is what analyzes data from the 3 wheel speed sensors and determines deceleration rates....which are used to cycle the iso/dump valves during an abs stop.

His 02 has 3 wheel speed sensors, 2 fronts and 1 rear mounted in the axle.
