Tires To Big

hI ALL been a while but got internet back. Was trying to look into some new tires for my pickup its 2wd. Right now for winter i have 285-75-16 on back and 265-70-16 now maybe someone can tell me if this is the reason why my truck seems squirly on the highway. It feels like the wind is blowing it but doesnt seem to be any wind. So anyways i was wanting some new tires maybe the revos or the bf ats My questions is what size to get and what backspaceing i need. Should i get another 16 inch rim or go down to 15 inch rims and get 33 inch tires. Whoever says that 285-s dont fit is bull you just cant turn I was wanting a 275-70-16 but the rim i want im not sure if they have my size backspaceing. Its u.s. wheels i want an 8 inch rim so i can get a nice wide footprint. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks ben

15s won't fit on the 97+ F150s due to the larger brakes. You're stuck with 16s as the smallest wheels. I would also recommend using one size of tire all the way around instead of 2. This goes double if you have 4wheel ABS as this will muck up the sensors. If you REALLY want to run 285s you'll be close to rubbing stock so you'd most likely need a leveling kit to avoid any issues.

I agree. If you want to lift the truck a little, go with 285's. If you don't want to lift it, go with 265's.

I have a 98 f150, 4x4 no lift at all, and I have Goodyears, which are being replaced soon, but the size is 305 70 16, and there is no rubbing. 285 are still 33 inch but you can go wider with a 70 then 75 if you want.
