33s on 2004 Supercrew?

I just bought me a 2004 4x4 Super crew and I think that the factory size tires are dinky looking, as in too much wheelwell not enought tire. Do you think I could put 33 inch tires on it without a lift kit? Or would I need to add a 2 1/2 front leveling kit? Next question. Do I need to stick with 17" wheels or could I buy some 16x10 inch wheels?

You'll clear 33's at stock height, if you use the OEM wheels. The optional tires on the 4x4's are just shy of 33 inches. You cannot use a wheel smaller than 17 inches on an 04-05 F-150 because of the size of the brakes. Backspacing on the new F-150's is critical to tire fitment. Several people are running 35's by using a leveling kit and stock wheels. Go to an aftermarket wheel with less backspacing and it gets iffy.
