05 XLT Wheel Question

I have stock wheel size of 235/75/17. I am interested in upgrading wheels/tires to Halo Maxx 6 18x9 and moving to 265/75/18 wheels. Am I going too tall compared to stock and will I lose low end torque? I would really like to put a 2.5" leveling kit in and fill up those wheel wells a bit, but I don't want to make the truck "doggy". I have the 5.4L with 3.55 gear ratio.

Any input would be appreciated.

Changed my mind

After seeing all of the pics of the 20" wheels on this site. I have decided I would rather go with 20's instead on 18's. I really like the look of the Nitto Tera Grapplers and am thinking of 305/55/20. This is about a 3% to 4% increase in diameter. I am willing to recalibrate for the change in speedo and will probably superchip at the same time.

Will I notice a power/mpg loss in going to this setup from 235/75/17 ??

I hope one of you tire experts can help me with this.

You will probably notice a difference but you performance should still be ok. I have 33's and 3.55 gears and am happy and I have 40 less hp than you.

you will fine...Good move on replacing the Hancooks, The fx4 has a 18 inch wheal, p235 70 17 are two small for the f-150 to begin with...I got my eyes on 18x9 Diablo rim that I saw at my tire dealer, will have to buy Performance tires as well, getting expensive...LT 265 70 17 BFG on the ford now, relpacement for the Hancooks.
