Question Goodyear MTR's vs BFG AT KO

Hi,

I been reading all the posts, this is a great site. I just bought a 02 Expedition 4x4 5.4L, it has 265 70R17's that are in need of replacement.

Wandell was telling me I could run MTR's 285 70R17's or possibly 305 70R17's on my stock 17x7.5 wheels, however I was reading another post that said the middle of the tire (305's) was wearing badly due to the narrow wheel.

I love look of the MTR's and had some on my 95 Bronco that I just traded for the Expy.

Does anyone run the MTR's on an Expy? I wondering about tire wear on the Heavier Expy. The ones on my Bronco were wearing well about 18,000 miles in 2 years with less than half of the tread worn out. I rotated and balanced them every 3000 miles or so, free at Discount tires.

Also like the BFG's, they were on my Bronco before the MTR's. But I really like the agressive look of the MTR's and they were great in Colorado Snow.

The BFG's are cheaper the MTR's are prettier

Anyone with an Expy running MTR's in either a 285 or 305?

Any and all opinions gladly appreciated.

Pictures Please

Thank you

I have a F150 4X4 and recently picked up a set of 265/75/16 BFG At KO's. I had a set of these on my old F150 as well and loved them. They have great aggresive looks, great treadwear, etc. The best thing about them in my opinion is that they have stood the test of time and proved themselves as a "battle tested & proved" tire.
Just my opinion..

MTR is sure sweet tires!

I bet you ll drive everyday w/ expy then BFG ATKO will be good for you.

If you hit the off roading , then MTR

I used to have 35 MTR on my jeep for driver daily and LOVE IT!!!

Its tough decision..hehe!

flip the coin...hehe

What about some other mud terrains?

The Firestone Destination MTs look nice and seem to get good reviews. Cooper has some new tires that look nice. Also the BFG Mud Terrains are pretty good.

Im really thinking about the Destination MTs for my next tire when I change em:

But if your choices are really that limited, tirerack.com has a special on the MTRs for $168 each (285/75R16)

Thanks, I will take a look at the tires you mentioned, too bad I need 17'3 though as that price on the MTR is nice. I'll take a look though.

Thanks Again

It's a tough choice, I think I'm leaning toward the MTR's still can't decide if I should try and fit the 305 70R 17's though.

Anyone have any pictures of an Expy with larger than stock tires. The bigger the better.

Thanks again

WHy dont you got o tire store and have them put 305 on your truck to see if you like it, good clearence ( no rubbing etc ) if you love it. keep it/buy it...if you find some issue then get 285.

I was told that some tire store willing to do that for customer.

try that.

Be sure to snap a pix
