Wheel sizes

I am a noobie to the Ford world since I just traded my wrangler for an 03 f150.
What I'm wondering is how big I can go with tires and rims without lifting my truck. Because if I could have put my jeep wheels on the truck before I traded, I'm not gonna be happy.
:-D
Thanks all

Welcome to the forum. Many members from what I have read are running 33's on the factory wheel without any modifications. Usually the 285-65/18 BFG a/t ko.There are 325-60/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers but they are a bit wide and rub on the lower arm and sway bar. The tires from the factory are at 32.07 and the BFG come out to appx 33. You could get some credit for your tires if they are in good shape to upgrade so check with a tire dealer if they have this option. I got 100 bucks a piece for my used rugged trails with about 10K miles on them when I went to TOYO mud terrain 33's. If you want 35's most do not recommend unless you have a leveling kit or a full Lift. There is some power loss sice my 33's are 75 pounds each and some 35's are around 80+ compared to the factory which I believe are in the 50-60 pound range. There are alot of pro's and con's on wheels/tires forum. Members have some reviews and some have had problems so you could look into it a bit more BEFORE making your decision. Good luck.

Also be careful with rims as it has been mentioned that FORD changed Brake calipers on some of the newer models and you may not fit something smaller than your factory wheel. example if the truck came with 18" rims 17" rims MAY not fit. Also if you decide to buy wheels be careful with the backspacing if you dont want them to stick out too far and possibly rub. The factory backspace is at 5.5" inches.

Since you have an '03, you can fit a 285/75R16 or 285/70R17 on the stock wheel without any problems.
Or you could run some 305/70R16's on a 16x10 if you crank the torsion bars and trim some plastic on the plastic valence.
Also, you dont need to worry about wheel clearance except on the newer '04 and up F150s. Since you have an '03, you can fit any 16" or bigger wheel.

Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't read the thread properly and was giving info on the 04-06 trucks. Thanks As long as someone gave him the right info is all that matters.
