Help deciding on tires....

Fixing to get some new tires on my truck (2000 Supercab Lariat 4x4), Going to go bigger than stock, got the 17 inch stock rims and gonna keep them. I haven't totally decided what I want yet but I am down to these (tell me what you think about 'em):

Cooper Discoverer ST
Mastercraft Courser CT
Nitto Terra Grappler
Toyo's AT/MT
Buckshot Mudders

the mastercraft and coopers are 275/70/17, nitto are 295/70/17, all others would be the 285/70/17? I assume all will fit stock? Just want some feedback to help me make my decision......

long live the hawg...WPS (wooopigsooieee)

The buckshots come in 265 or 305 for the 17 inch rim. I've got the 305's and I like them. Certainly the best bang for the buck. They wear kinda fast if you do a lot of highway driving but other than that I love them.
What part of Arkansas are you from Hawgman?

You would have to crank the torsion bars but they will fit. My friends mom has them on her 03 Screw and it looks great. No rubbing at all. They are just a little bit under 34 inches tall.
Also if you are looking at the maxxis tires you should check out the maxxis bighorns.

It's a pretty nice looking tire. I havent seen many people with them because they are fairly new but if they are anything like the buckshots I would buy them in a heartbeat.

by adjusting the torsion bars i understand that i would get a stiffer ride?, is it to the point that it is pretty noticeable? Also, I carry my fourwheeler in the bed of my truck, is that going to put more tension on those to the point where it shouldn't be done and could stress them? I don't know anything about this..also do those 305's jack the speedometer?

I would assume the ride will be a little stiffer but not much. I've got a leveling kit on mine and the ride is stiffer(04+ trucks use coilovers so we have to use leveling kit). As for stressing certain parts, I dont know but plenty of people do it with no problems. It doesnt mess with the speedo much but I think it does a little bit but nothing major.

If you just crank the torsion bars to level the truck, it will be stiffer but it should not be too bad. If you go beyond that it is uncomfortable for some people and it also puts your CV joints at an extreme angle (not good).

Putting bigger tires on will cause your speedo (and odometer) to read slow. You can correct the speedo several ways, the dealership can do it for you (they usually charge for this, I dont know the price but Ive heard something like $80???), but most handheld tuners will also allow you to adjust the speedo, and youll be getting some performance out of it as well.

c'mon guys tell me about your tires, let me know what you have and if you like them and if you did have others that you wouldn't recommend, like I would do with the current Wrangler RT/S that are on my truck now...
