Possable brake problem on 05 F150
Well I had this only happen a few times it seems to happen only when I get on the gas hard for a split second and then some jerk pulls out in front of me or pulls into my lane and I have to go from hard aceleration to hard braking in a split second. At first the brakes feel like there is nothing there then all of a sudden the catch. I damn near wrecked tonight because of some jerk decided to turn left same time I was going into the lane he was in front of me driving slow so I got into the center left lane early to get up to the light so I punched it to get a quick thrill then dimwitt decides hes going to turn left so I had to go from acelerating to braking like that. I put the brake pedal to the floor and and the truck kept on with the rapid aceration for a second or two before the brakes kicked in just intime to prevent me from wrecking into the dude he got a blast of my horn and the number one salute for his very stupid move. all I want to know is there a problem with my brakes and if anyone else had this happen on there truck.

I would suspect that it's not so much a throttle issue as a vacuum issue. There is a check valve in the vacuum booster that is supposed to maintain vacuum on the brake system. (That's why you can shut the truck off and get one good whoosh from the brake pedal) I would start there and see if the check valve may be bad. When you go to WOT, there is very little vacuum in the system, but the check valve is supposed to hold the vacuum just for that reason.

hmustang – Did you notice if the ABS light came on or not?
I just received this letter in the mail a couple days ago and it might be a good idea to look into with your dealer as well.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Ford Motor Company has decided that certain 2005 – 2006 model year F-150 and certain 2006 Mark LT vehicles fail to conform to the requirements specified in either Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 105 (Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems) or No. 135 (Light Vehicle Brake Systems).
We apologize for this situation and want to assure you that, with you assistance, we will correct this condition. Our commitment, together with Ford and Lincoln dealers, is to provide you with the highest level of service and support.
What is the issue? Your vehicle was built with a software error in the instrument cluster. This error could prevent the Antilock Brake System (ABS) warning light from illuminating if the ABS module ever became inoperative. In the unlikely event of an inoperative ABS module, the operator will not be aware of the malfunction and the brake system will not perform as expected. Please note that this software error does not affect the function of the brake system.
What will Ford do? Ford Motor Company and your dealer will recalibrate the instrument cluster in your vehicle to the latest calibration level free of charge (parts and labor). We urge you to return to your dealer for this service.
How long will it take? The time needed for this repair is less than one-half day. However, due to service scheduling requirements, your dealer may need your vehicle for a longer period of time.
What to do Please call your dealer without delay and request a service date for Compliance Recall 06C11. Provide the dealer with the VIN # of your vehicle.
