Aftermarket backspace and 35 inch tires
I think I finally found a wheel that I like and can afford, Eagle Alloys #114. From their web site I was able to pull the following specs.
They come in a 17x8 or a 17x10 in a 6-135 bolt pattern both in chrome.
Am I correct in figuring that the :
17x8 with 5.2 Backspace would stick out .80 inch over stock
17x10 with 4.9 inch Backspace would stick out 3.30 inch over stock
Which wheel do I go with in order to run 35 inch BFGs on my 2005 4x4 Screw with an AS 2.5 lift so as not to have rubbing issues ?
Wandell, you're the in house expert, what do I do

I would suspect that with early production aftermarket rims, maybe the offset coupled with a deep backspace would cause clearance issues. Every wheel retailer that I have spoken to says that issue was addressed by the wheel companies and they have not had any issues. I don't claim to know much about it, just what I've been told.

I would go with the 17x8's. However, they are right. Ford changed the brake calipers sometime during the 05 model year and this is causing fitment problems with SOME aftermarket 17 inch wheels. Those may or may not fit. Just be sure to test fit a wheel before you start mounting and balancing tires. Also, an 8 inch wide wheel is approved by most tire manufactures for 315mm (12.50 inch) wide tires.

Ok guys, to me 17" is 17" no matter how you look at it. So why in the world would my factory 17" wheel fit and not an Eagle 17" wheel. They are both 17" so they should both fit. I'm sorry for being so ignorant/beating a dead horse/being a dumb-a$$/ or whatever I am being but I need to know.

Find an 2006 f150 with 17" factory rims, look at the way the rims are made, not @ the bolt holes but in the middle of the rim where the calipers are mounted on the axle.there is clearence for the calipers. Some aftermarket rims would not clear the new caliper design and hit the caliper.
Just make sure that the rim clears the caliper before you mount the tires and balance them.So that you don't blow you money on something you can't use.you can buy the ones that hit the calipers, find a machinest that needs some extra cach, have him turn the rims, true the rims, then the wheels on your car will go round and round, round and round, round and round.
Sorry just the smart a$$ in me.
