ok i have had my 97 f150 4x4 for about a month. i was driving up the road and i start to brake to slow down for my turn. i here a bang as i hit the brakes. and i can feel the petal kick back. now my pedal is soft and it`s still bangs some times and i feel the petal pulse. not real loud but it`s hard to tell where it`s going from.i had a qwick look but can`t see anything. and ideas????

 

could it be a broke spring on the back? come on guy`s what should i be looking at?

 

You should be looking at the brakes.

It could be as simple as a pad that let loose, or it could be a drum/shoe issue. Just a guess here, but I'd look at the drums first. There are a lot more parts to fail in there. Look for broken springs, retainers and pins.
