Power diff with bigger tires

Hey everyone its time for some new tires and i think im going to go with 33/12.5/17 pro comp xtreme a/t. I was just wondering how much of a differance i should expect to notice in accel with the bigger tires. Pro comps web site says that they are actually 32.5 and goodyears site says the stock tires are actually 31.7 so there isnt all that much of a diff in height. Oh for the record i have the 5.4l and 3.55 rears.

If you don't have a tuner(to recalibrate for the larger size tire). Your speedo will be off by a couple of miles per hour but like you said not much difference. Because the speedo will be off you may notice a drop in mpg per tank. I don't think you will notice a huge difference in power loss, but i believe will be slightly noticeable specailly with 3.55 gears. All in ALL, i think the larger tires are worth it. If you think you felt you lost too much power, Heck just buy some 4.10 gears

Oh yeah, Welcome to the FORUM. and post some pics when you can(to show them off)

You effectively change the gearing by a percentage from stock (you didn't list stock tire size) and therefore the torque multiplier. That's what percentage "power loss" you will have, plus some for the heavier tires. Different people have different tolerances for noticing any performance differences.

The stock size is 265/70/17, the metric size of the new tires will be 305/65/17 i think there is something like 25lbs differance per tire.

Well obviously you're messing with your gear ratios, your tranny shifting points, etc. etc. You will notice a decrease for a little while until your truck educates itself and learns how to re-achieve that originally lost performance. The truck isn't dumb but it sure learns better if you re-tune your speedo (dealership redid mine for $49). No, you will not "get used to" the decreased performance - your truck will learn what it needs to do after a couple hundred miles. THEN........

your gas mileage will crater

......unless you get gears that can more efficiently handle your increased load...IF it makes that much of a difference. In my case it didn't.

You are only going up one inch in tire size. I went up 3 inches and didn't notice a difference. My speedometer is now off 5mph at 60 mph however.
