Balancing issues on 35" BFG Muds

Has anyone had any issues with balancing there 35" tires. I have stock 18" FX4 rims with 35" BFG Muds. When they first came in as they were mounting them they said one was really hard to balance and put it on the "road force" machine (I think that was what is was called) and said the tire failed the test and couldn't be balanced. Tire Rack sent me a new tire and it was mounted and balanced without issue. 2 days ago as I was driving home the truck started to shake and it did this for about 2-3 minutes and then stopped, at first I thought it must be the ****ty road, but it did it again today for about the same duration and then went away. I have about 2000 miles on the tires, do you think they could be out of balance already??

I have a 2004 FX4 Screw with 2.5" autospring and the tires, I'll be adding a 4" Rancho this week and taking the leveling kit off. It couldn't be the autospring screwing things up could it???

Thanks for the help.

Out of round, wouldn't they have picked that up with the road force?

maybe the weights fell off or moved. Either way, take it back and have them check it out.

If it comes and goes, I doubt if it would be out of balance. If from the rear, I would check your emergency brakes, they do have a tendency to cause problems, including intermitent vibration and rubbing.

This set of BFG's will likely be my last for a while until they fix the vibe problem. I had no issues until I put this set of AT/KO's on (285/65-18). They shake my truck apart at 60-65 mph. Road Force balanced and the works. Hello Nitto/Toyo.

I bought a set of 285/70/17 BFG Rugged Trails 2 years ago. Had my friend that owns a tire store mount and balance them as I do with all my tires. Drove from home to Virginia ( 650 miles round trip) and had to have them rebalanced as 3 of them were 1/4 to 1/2 ounce off. ( original weights did not move and none came off). The seats actually shook on the entire trip home. Stayed home a few days, then back to Virginia again. About half way there the truck started the shaking $h!t again. Had them balanced when I got to Virginia and 2 had to have 1/2 ounce added to them.(once again the weights did not move or come off). On the trip back home same $h!t different day. Truck shook so hard at 65mph that I could not stand it. Got home, went to friends shop, put them on the balancer again and same thing. No weights moved or missing and this time all 4 were between 1/4 and 1/2 ounce off.
Took the damn things off and threw them in the barn and put Nitto Terra Grapplers on. Never had an issue with them....Now need new tires again and would really like to try the Cooper Discovered ATR 315/70/17, but can not find the revolutions per mile specs on them....I will have to keep looking I guess..
Moral of the story is that I will never purchase another BFG product....

my 285/65/18 bfg's were a bear to balance. the tire shop said they have a lot of trouble balancing larger bfg's on trucks. I don't know what the deal with that is, but my truck doesn't vibrate... just has a boat load of weights.

Smooth as can be...

I have 285/70/17 BFG AT/KO's and love them + 2 inch Auto Spring with no issues... If you still have your factory tires remount them and see if things change.

I replaced my factory tires with the AT/KO's. Mine were 18". Yours are 17". Most of the trouble has been with the 18" BFG's.

Well today got all 4 tires road force balanced at my Ford dealer. They told me all were out of balance a little and the left rear is way out of round he said bad it wasnt even close to tolerances. He stated it was almost square and that BFG are not known for this. So I guess there is my problem. Only problem is I ordered these tires online about 3 hours away. Could I just go to any BFg dealer or do I go to the dealer I purchased from?

My local dealer tells me that BFG has redesigned all of their bigger tires to help solve the shake issue...he also states that they jacked up the price 50 bucks in doing so. I don't know whether to call BS on that or not.
