brake bleeder help

Hello. I am looking for a little assistance. I have a 97 F150 and I was attempting to bleed the rear brakes. Well, the bleeder turned, but it actually twisted off almost flush. So, my question: what is the best way to remove the remaining part of the bleeder so I can install a new bleeder? The truck has 170,000 miles and I don't know when the bleeders were loosened last (I have only had the truck since 129,000 miles and I have never touched the bleeders). I had sprayed them done with some WD40 about a week ago hoping that would help. The front bleeders came loose with no problem, but the rear are giving me some grief.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Chris

Why not just see if you can bleed this brake using the fitting on the brake line going into the wheel cylinder. The small amount of air that might be left in the system is not enough to worry about. Besides, you're not going to get that bleeder out. Just hope the line fitting comes apart.

If you feel you must have a good bleeder, replace the wheel cylinder and be done with it, but for my money. Bleed the line at the back of the wheel cylinder and spend the money on beer or something.

Good luck

I haven't dealt with wheel cylinders before so I was at a loss. I decided to just go ahead and replace the wheel cylinder. It makes it a lot easier to bleed the brakes by yourself if you have a bleeder and a Mity-Vac . The wheel cylinder only cost me $13 at Napa.

Thanks for your help.
