Post tie rod replacement

I know ablolutely nothing about cars. I recently had tie rods replaced on my 2000 Audi A6. I just realized that 2 of my tires are bald even though they are only 1 year old. Did the worn tie rods cause this? Would the mechanic have automatically aligned my tires when the tie rods were replaced? Should I have the car aligned when I get the new tires? Anything else I should know?

A backyard mech can't re-align your front end, but if was any good shop yes they should have done the alignment. Regardless if you put new tires on it you should get it checked. Anything that is wrong will show up on the rack.
