Ride Quality of 22's...

I'm new but have been "lurking" on the boards here for months on end so I thought I would post for once. I have a 2004 screw 4X2 with the factory height suspension but am currently shopping black 22's to go on my black screw to get the look I have been wanting sicne I bought my ride back in Oct. 2004.

My question is one that I haven't seen many comments about. For those of you who have 22's on either a 40 or 45 series tire; how much difference would you say there is in ride quality, sound of road noise, etc.. between the factory tires and the lower profile tire and was it enough difference to wish you didn't upgrade to a big rim over the factory 18's.

I am looking at going with a 305X45X22 in either a Toyo, Pirelli or Hankook tire but still wonder as to how much ride quality I will sacrifice to get that sick look of a 22" rim on my ride. I love my truck's ride but I also want the dubs to set the truck off from all the factory rides around town. Any and all comments welcomed please and I am glad to be in the company of f-150 lovers.

The ride on my Expy is a little firmer, but the overall handling is much, much better with the 305/45-22's.

Having driven my dad's 06 Harley f-150, the ride quality is pretty good. It is a AWD/4WD truck so already it rides kinda rough, but other than that, it is firmer and not really noticeable. Go for it.

I have 305/40/22's on mine and can honestly say I don't think the ride quality suffered all that much when I moved from my factory tires.

Now I DO have to qualify this by saying my factory tires were only on for a couple of hundred miles, so I didn't get real used to their ride anyways. However, I did try to pay attention to the difference between the tires just for comparisons sake.

In all honesty, I was expecting a HUGE difference in ride quality, but just didn't experience it!

i have 22s on 305/45r22s on my 04 fx4. the quality of the ride as was said is a lil firmer and you can feel just a tad bit more bump, BUT i think it might be cringin hopin i dont hurt these things. lmao If i had the money I would have gotten 24s but the ride probably would have suffered a lil more

You will be happy with 22s, i know i am!!!

When my truck was at stock height I thought it rode perfect even with 305/35/24's

Thanks for the info everyone on the ride with 22/24's as well as all of those who post pics of their rides, very much appreciated. After researching every site I could find with black wheeels in their selections, I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger, within the next couple of weeks, on some black 22's (either the VCT Scarface or Demoda Authority in black). I'm going to use a shop here in my hometown of Plano that agreed to match the best online price I could find. I'll create a gallery and post after I get the new shoes on. Thanks again for the advice.

if your running a 45 tire, then you will be fine with the ride once u go 40 and below is when you start to loose the comfort factor
i got BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDW2 305/35/24

I had 40 series tire on my last civic. I've had 50 series on a car before. Go with the thicker tire dude. With the smaller series its real easy to gets dent. Trust me my mom ruined one of my Enkei's just grocery shopping.

Just wanted to throw a comment out there to anyone who was thinking of going with a black rim/chrome lip...Good Luck! There are some out there but they push the 5oo per wheel barrier real fast and I couldn't justify 3000 plus for wheels&tires with the other mods I want to do; especially on 22's. There are some with the black and "brushed" finish rim but I wanted the brightness of the chrome lip, so I abandoned the black wheel and went with the solid chrome wheel which will be mounted on 305X45X22 Toyo Proxes rubber. New wheels&shoes are being specially ordered and due in next Tuesday...I now remember what it feels like to be a kid again waiting for Christmas.

Thanks again for the tire size - help comments from all and can't wait to post a pic of the new wheels because I have not seen the ones I bought on another F-150.

Good to know this stuff. I'm planning on getting 22's or maybe regular Harley rims and I sometimes have to go on a 1 mile lumpy gravel road, and some of the streets in my town SUCK! I always avoid the bad bumps anyways
