Got My New Tires 35" Bf Goodrich Mud-terrians

THIS IS MY 2004 FX4 WITH MY NEW BF GOODRICH MUD-TERRAINS 35 X 12.5 X 17 W/ A 2.5 AUTOSPRING LEVELING KIT ON STOCK 17 OEM WHEELS. THEY MAKE THE TRUCK LOOK AWESOME. MY BEST PURCHASE FOR MY TRUCK SO FAR. ALSO NO RUBBING SO FAR!! FOR ANYONE THAT CAN'T DECIDE ON A 33" OR 35", GO WITH THE 35", IT FILLS THE WHEEL WELL NICELY. I'VE ALREADY GOT A BUNCH OF COMPLIMENTS!!

I DON'T KNOW WHY SOME PICS ARE BIGGER THAN OTHERS. I TRIED TO MAKE THEM SMALLER.

I got the decals on ebay. They give you three decals, two for the hood and one for the dash. They were about $10 or so. They add to the hoods appearence nicely.

35's

I added 33's & I did lose some power....not so much because the 33's were larger (stock was 32), but because they each weighed about 25 pounds more. Mike Troyer (Superchips guru) said that due to rotational weight that going to bigger tires can rob you of 15-20 HP. My new tires were 33x13.50 IROK's & like I said I did notice some power loss.

How about you....did you notice a loss of power? (of course your gearing has also changed due to the much larger tire size so this may be a tough question to answer)

Just asking because I'm thinking of getting the 35" BFG MT's when I need new ones.

Looks great! I have an '05 FX4 with stock 18", and am leaning toward the 35x12.5 BFG's also. Did you add the leveling kit at the same time you added tires? I saw an XL 4x4 with 35's this week and it cleared without the additional leveling kit. I guess I'll find out after installing my 35's if I need the leveling kit. Do you have any close pictures of the front wheels to show clearance? BTW, great choice in tires

how much did those set you back if you dont mind me asking? did you have someone local hook you up, get them online? have you tried them out off-road yet? if so, what do you think of the grip you got out of them? thanks for any info, im lookin at gettin some new tires, and really like the look of these, and it looks like they have a nice deep tread on them

TOELESS,
I cant tell if I lost horsepower but I can say that I dont coast as well. I definetly notice myself pressing the pedal a little more to maintain my speed. I haven't changed the gears in the truck and I dont know if I will. I'm a cop so I do have access to radar and I went from a 255 to a 35 tire. My speedo is off 3 mph. So when I'm doing 47 im really doing 50. In regards to the power loss it can't be that much, I'll take the powerloss for the better look of the truck but thats me.

Question for you, if I go to Ford and get my gears changed, my speedo will be corrected but will I get better miles per gallon? And how much more will I get?

YZF-R1,
I do have a autospring leveling kit. It is the 2.5 inch kit. It makes the truck level from front to back. You will need the kit it you go with the 35's. It is a big tire and fills the whell well nicely. I do not have any rubbing and the mud terrains are a fraction bigger than the all terrains. You might be able to get away with the 2" leveling kit but I would ask someone else that has the set up. I always heard people saying that the 35's rubbed at max. turns but I dont have that problem. Maybe they have the 2" kit. I installed the kit about 3 weeks before I got the tires. I do have pics with just the kit on, check out my gallery. The kit is only $100 and then you will have to get an alignment that costed me $80. But its worth it and the best part about it is your not touching your suspension. I had a couple of friends that raised their vehicles and they had nothing but problems. They also never went off-roading. Good luck and go with the 35's, the tread depth is unreal, they will last a very long time. I'll post another pic of a close up for the tires for you.
