Stock-Aftermarket....Rims/Axle

I am thinking about getting rid of my 17 inch stock rims and buying some 15 inch aftermarket rims because the 35x12.5 tires are way cheaper with 15's. If I get 15's and 35x12.50 should I get 15x10 or 15x8 inch rims? Also what is the stock axle ratio of the f150? Does anyone have pictures of any 15 inch rims that look good and are cheap? I am looking for some cheap 15 inch rims.

If you have rear disc brakes you may not be able to fit 15"wheels on your truck.

No problem. You could probably measure the distance you have on your current wheels and that woulkd give you an idea of how much you have to work with.Good Luck.

a 15" rim will not fit on over your calipers. i have been told thay you can grind away part of the rime to make them fit. im the same as you i wish they would clear. the tires are cheaper.

I'd suggest a 16x10 inch wheel (4 1/2 inches of backspacing) with a 305/70-16 (33x12.50) tire. Like they said, 15 inch wheels will not fit over the brake calipers on a 2001. If you notice, you don't see 15 inch wheels in our 5x135mm bolt pattern. That's why.

So I think I am going to get 16x10 and 35x12.5R16 with a 3" body lift. So the F150 4wd have a 5 lug setup?

Yep. All the 97-03 F-150 4x4's and 4x2's use the 5x135mm lug pattern.

So I could trade tires and rims with a 2003 F150 2wd(16in) for my 2001 F150 4wd (17in), are the stock 16in. rims 16x10 or 16x8. Will a body lift with 35x12.5R16 with stock 16in rims work? Do you have to have aftermarket rims with a certain amount of backspacing or anything like that for a body lift to work with stock wheels.

Stock rims are 8" wide. If you go with 12.50" wide tired you'll prolly want a 10" wide rim.

The OEM Ford wheels are 16x7's and 17x7.5's. Most tire manufacturers recommend 8 to 10 inch wide wheels for 35x12.50's. If you go with an aftermarket wheel, you want to stay close to the OEM backspacing of 4 1/2 inches which is what most aftermarket wheels have.
