new tire and wheel question

I have a 99 f-150 2wd with a 3 inch body lift. I want to put a 16x10 inch rim on it and was told by a tire shop that I needed 33x12.50's or 305x70's. I am planning on going with a mud terrain tire. My question is, will I be able to fit that size tire and rim without it rubbing?

If i was you i would go with the 285 but even that would be a tight fit. Not the im recommending this but ive seen some trucks around her running 265s on 10s.

I was told by another tire guy that 265's would look funny on a 10 inch rim. I have 265's on my stock 7 inch rims now, but I want my tires to stick out past the fender wells.

You will have to trim the front bumper's lower plastic valance a little to fit 305/70-16's with 16x10 inch wheels, but they will work fine. I wouldn't go smaller than a 285/75-16 (33x11.50) on a 10 inch wide wheel. One thing you may want to consider is your future plans. Do you think you will ever install lift spindles or a full suspension lift? If you do, those will increase your front track width a couple of inches and make 10 inch wide wheels stick way outside the wheelwells. If you plan on a suspension lift in the future, you may want to stick with an 8 inch wide wheel.

If I tightened the torsion bars would I still have to shave the valence, or would It be better to just buy a leveling kit? I don't plan on putting any kind of suspension lift on it in the future. It's not four wheel drive so I'm really just doing this for looks. Do you think it would be better to go with 285's?

You don't have torsion bars. You have coil springs. You can install a set of Daystar coil spring spacers, but you will still more than likely have to trim your valance. It's not a big deal. Here's a pic of mine.

Well, that's what this site is all about. Nobody knows everything, although I know several people that think they do!
