what will fit

I have a 02 f150lariat 4x4 with the stock 265 70 17 tires on it. i have talked to a bunch of different people and shops and got a bunch of different answers. Can i clear 315's with just cranking the torsion bars and a bigger block? thanks

Some people have managed to put 315s but they use the factory wheels.

RIght. You can fit 315/70-17's (35x12.50) on a stock 4x4, but it is a tight fit. THe secret is to use the OEM 17x7.5 inch wheels. You will have some minor rubbing on the frame at full steering lock. Personally, I wouldn't go with them unless you plan on a lift in the near future.

I have a 2002 XLT 4x4, how big of tires can I put on it? I have the stock 16" Al wheels. If i go to a 285/75/16 will there be a computer problem and or rubbing?

Thanks,

You shouldn't have any "computer problems". Also, your truck is the same as Bens02f150. A 315/75-16 is the same height and width as a 315/70-17. Personally, I'd go with the 285/75-16's if you are gonna keep the OEM 16x7 wheels.

Thanks, Wandell

Do you think 285 would look too small if i added a 3" body lift? I'm looking at a lift and weighing all my options tires and body lift vs. suspension lift.

the 285s on 305s both look fine with the body lift, wandel has the 285s with his. imo i would go with the 305s and a 10 wheel with the body lift

315 on stock, look out for some troubles

I saw a guy who was running 315 on stock rims...hmmm not a good idea, he had to do some triming and also the tires were rubbing when he was turning completely the wheels. Another thing, 315 on stock, you will have problems to keep the pressure up, it will slowly deflate. My advice, run 33" which should fit good on the stock rims.

Would this go for a '98 Supercab XLT 4X4 (off road package) with stock 17" wheels, too?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, all 97-03 4wd F-150's are the same height except tire differences. All will accept up to 315/70R17 or 315/75R16.

That is very nice to know APT, thanks....I have a 97 f150 4x4 with the off road package and I just ordered some new tires for it. I am going with the Pro Comp all terrains 33 12.50 17. This is equivilant to the 305 series tires. I got one heck of a deal on them also. I checked with tirepackage.com and they quoted me $675. That was buy 3 and get one free also with free shipping. I contacted a local tire guy and he checked on a price for me from tirepackage.com and he quoted me $517 installed! HMMMMM I wonder which one I will go with
