New Pads

Anyone notice after upgrading your pads from OEM that you had better braking? I just put Hawk pads on my car and noticed a considerable improvement. Anyone else use Hawks or other higher performance pads?---Thx

do it your self brakes

Was told by dealer at purchase that I wouldn't be able to do my own brake jobs, because retracting the calipers one at a time would cause the fluid pistons to be misaligned and cause the truck to not start. Sounded like B.S. to try and sell me maintenance contract. Anyone heard of this?

What? That's complete BS! I do my own brakes (03 SupCrew). Your dealer is either an idiot or he just thinks he can snowjob you... either way it's not good...

I replaced my pads all the way around on my 05 with no problems. You'll be fine if you do your own brake jobs on your 05.

I just replaced my front pads with the Hawk ceramic's. So far so good after about 1,000 miles. These pads produce virtually no dust which is what I wanted to achieve from an aftermarket pad. Before the Hawk's, I had the Porterfield carbon-kevlar's (still have them in the rears), but the front's still produced a dusting problem.

Me too. No issues here, just MUCH better stopping and *less* (not NO dust) with my Porterfield pads front and rear.

i used Napa parts and i noticed less dust and better stopping power. Though my old ones were pretty wore out so i'm not sure i can accurately gauge stopping power.
