Question for you all...

I know this is not an F150 question but, I thought I would ask anyway. I'm looking to replace the tires on my wifes '02 Escape. It's a four wheel drive unit but I don't want to put an AT tire on it. It never sees any off road by any means. It still has the OEM Continentals on it but they are noisy. I would like to replace them with a decent tire for wet/snow traction since we live up here in Northern Illinois, but I want something that rides good on the highway and is going to get decent life out of them. I was looking at some Michelins but they are expensive. Are they worth the money? I was also looking at some BFG Long Trail TA's. I had them on a Ranger and they seemed to be pretty good. Any other recomendations? I'd like to be out the door down the road for $500 or less for the set. Size is 235/70/16. I'm not a fan of Goodyear truck tires. So they are probably out. Any help is appreciated.

I like the Michelins. Never got less than 75k out of them.
Been very pleased with the wet traction of the LTX M/S.
Night and day over the OEM.

As soon as I saw you were looking for a "quiet" tire the first thing that came to my mind was Michelin -- the model Raoul mentioned is popular, and available at many different retail locations.

While they are a bit spendy upfront, they do wear well if you keep your vehicle aligned properly and perform your 6000 mile rotations, so in the long run they may not be all that more expensive on "cost-per-mile" basis.

Check with Sears -- I think they are having a big Michelin sale this week!

I'd look at the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's also.

Thanks for all the replys guys. I haven't decided as of yet so any other opinions please post.

MJN - Yea let me know what your dad says. I was planning on probably getting them there at Discount Tire on Perryville. That's where I bought my wheels for my truck from also.

OK got a answer they are the Kelly Path Finder SUV. Have a decent looking side wall and I think they look good. He has about 50,000 on them and said he can get another 30 easy out of them. What ever you choose good luck

I love my Cooper Discoverer ATR's . They are very quiet , make no noise at all and ride great and are great in snow and mud.. but I don't do any heavy off roading, mostly street driving. If you get them make sure they are the ATR and not the AT. Cooper was getting complaints about the noise of the AT and redesigned them to cut out the noise and thus the ATR came of the redesign.
