35" Tires vs. Mileage

So, I'd hoped to get away with 33" tires on my 06 Screw, but I can see that they look to small to me and the 35" tires look best. Unfortunately, I know the 35s are going to adversely effect my mileage and overall performance. Can you guys (or gals) with 35" tires tell me what specific impact they had on your mileage and performance? I drive about 2500/month and out here in Cally-fornia they want nearly $3/gallon for gas. Diesel is even more than that! The crooks. Thanks in advance.

Yep, I installed the 35" and guess what..the mileage in the city is down to 13 mpg...oh well, I like my truck as it is anyway.

If you want your performance to stay close to the same, then you are going to have to regear. The interstate will show the most obvious loss of power.

How bad is the performance with the 35s and 3.73s? What would be a better gear for 35s? 4.56s?

performance 35" and 3.73

that s my truck, city is bad, 13 mpg, but highway was much better as long as you are running a max of 2,000 rpm (70 mph), then you get back into the 16 mpg+.

Just came back from off-roading and I am going to add the gallery. I got stuck good in there, good thing the other guy had a winch. I will add the pictures in the gallery today.

dude, if you are getting 16+ on the highway, you are doing really well for 35s. i have 35" MT tires, they are heavy granted, but im getting 11-12 on the highway, going 75. its not that the 373 cant handle it on the pavement, its just that if you had 410s installed, i would get better gas milage and beable to pull more...

Putting in 4.10's is going to make your mileage worse, not better. Off the line performance will improve however. I am running 35" xterrains with 3.73's on a 5.4 supercrew and I am getting about 14 mpg mixed driving and about 15 highway. I would save the money you would spend on gears and get a good exhaust setup and a programmer to firm up your shift points etc...
