285/70r17

Hey, I am doing a 6" fabtech lift to my 2004 F-150 2wd, if I go with 285/70R17 BFGoodrich AT KOs and 17x9 wheels - Do you guys thinks these tires will look way to small for this setup? Not going to 35s because I dont want to have to regear. I have the small 4.6L V8.

Thanks in advance
Paul

If you have 3.73 gears the 35s would be fine. If all you wanted was a 285 then I would just add a spacer...

I think I need to go with 33s because I have the 4.6L V8 and the 3.73 and a lot of people have told me to stick with 33s if I dont want to regear.

I think the 285s will look too small for the 6 inch lift....if you gonna go with the 285 tires when just do what the other fella said go with a spacer and lift blocks or whatever you want....but I say keep your money if you gonna get the 285s dont get the 6 inch lift save that money and get some nicer wheels on the 285's and do other mods also...ull be happier that way if all you want is the 285's...

jus my 2 cents

What if I went with a 315/70/17 - Is that considered a 35" tire?(dont want to have to regear) Would that tire work with my 17x9 wheel? Would it fit well? Any suggestions at all would be great, I already have my 6" lift in, so I'm not going to send it back.

315/70R17 is about 34.4" tire. I'd want to a 4.56 gear which is only ~$500 installed for 2wd.

IMO, go bigger than 285's.. I have them on my '04 with no lift or leveling kit, they fit "perfect" I think a 33" tire would be too small and detract from the looks of your lift.

35's and gears would be the way to go. You have the 8.8" rear end with the 4.6, so aftermarket gears are readily available and cheaper than the 9.75" rear!

Thanks for all the great advice, I am going to go with a 35" tire and try it on my 4.6 V8 and if I am not happy I will have it regeared within a week or so. Thanks again for the advice.
