Upping tire size from stock.....

OK. I have a 2005 f150 supercrew 2wd with a 3.55 rear gear. I have stock rolling trim aka 255/65-17.

I have never bought larger tires before and I don't really know what the max tire size would be.

Before I'd get the tires I'd be getting a 2" AS level kit.

The realtime dilema is I don't know how the larger tires will affect MPG as I drive 48 miles a day mostly highway.

I am going to be keeping the stock rims too.

Any advice on tire size and gear changes if needed would be greatly appreciated.

I know that several people have fit 285/70-17's (33x11.50) on 4x2's with only a leveling kit.

I recently went from 255's to 285's on my 4x4 with 3.73's

The gas milage really didn't change(still getting 12-13 mpg around town), but I did notice a little decrease in the power department.

Well, I have a '06 Flareside, which also had 255/70/17. I just bought Nitto AT Grapplers and the biggest size that would fit with/without a leveling kit would be 295/70/17. I kept my factory rims also. I should have my new pics on here pretty quick so that people can see what they look like. Good Luck. I have noticed a difference in ride. It rides a little heavier and mpg have gone down..
