Question 04 fx4 17x9 wheel too small?

i recently took my truck in to get lifted (6" procomp w/coilovers) and i picked out everything agreed to a price and then put a downpayment. i get a call saying the 17x9 mickey thompson classic II wont fit on 04 and up 4x4 so they want me to upgrade to 18" wheel and a bigger tire. thats a good 400 dollars more than what i expected to pay.am i being haggled? or is this a fact? i was also told my transmission crossbar is bent and i would have to buy a new one for them to install and that was another 600 dollars. i then told them i couldnt afford it and they said they could make it work but i would have to sign a disclaimer voiding their 90 day warranty. does this sound shady to anyone else? i need some feedback please because thats their buisness they say there the experts but it just sounds shady what there doing

The 17x9's will fit your 04. Sometime during the 05 model year, Ford changed to a larger brake caliper. This is causing fitment problems with some aftermarket 17 inch wheels on some 05 trucks and the 06's.

Sounds very shady seeing as that I have 17x9 eagles on my 04 with Iroks with no problem whatsoever. tell them to mount the 17s
